Thank you to BNY Mellon for inviting me to participate in a wonderful event in NYC in honor of International Women’s Day. The event was titled “Powering Success through Diversity and Inclusion: Celebrating International Women’s Day” and was organized by WIN (the company’s Women’s Initiative Network). Jane Sherburne, CEO Gerald Hassell and Karen Peetze all made important opening remarks. I was profoundly honored to speak to 500 guests on a panel along with Rosie Rios (Treasurer of the United States), Vanessa Weaver, PhD (Founder and CEO of Allignment Strategies, Inc.) and Luanna Zurlo (Founder and President of Worldfund). These women are remarkable and I learned so much from them. During our panel I was asked how gender bias impacts women’s identity development and what kinds of gender bias I see in media reporting. I also greatly enjoyed the question and answer session and the personal conversations I had with attendants. Thank you to all who participated and took the time to reflect on important issues pertaining to gender inequality. Here is a picture of me with our Treasurer, Rosie Rios (a remarkable and gracious person).

Last night I had a wonderful conversation with Dr. Cheryl Dellasega– the foremost expert of female-to-female behavior. I greatly enjoyed our chat. Cheryl’s body of work on female bullying (or more accurately “relational aggression”) is amazing and includes girls and women of all ages and within different contexts. Great tips and very empowering. Her books cover a wide range of topics and are extremely well written. If you have a teen girl in your life her series of teen novels are terrific. If you have a difficult relationship with a family member or extended family member or you’re trying to blend families her book Forced To Be Family is a must-read. You can listen to our interview here: http://www.audioacrobat.com/play/W6DhqwW90 For more information about Cheryl please visit her website www.cheryldellasega.com
